[DISCONTINUED] MBNA Best Western MasterCard

This year started out strong with all-time high sign up bonuses from various credit card issuers. Unfortunately, it is starting to look like we are closing out the year on a low note. Earlier today, we published a post regarding the end of the MBNA Alaska Airlines cards. Now we are writing a separate post on one of my personal favourites, MBNA Best Western MasterCard, who is also coming to an end.

[DISCONTINUED] MBNA Alaska Airlines Mastercards

Yikes! Another one bites the dust. Most of you probably already heard about this, so today, now that the dust has settled a bit, I will chime in my 2 cents on what happened.

Before I continued, just know that if you are an existing MBNA Alaska Airlines MasterCard holder, you are still safe. Unfortunately, MBNA has decided to discontinued their MBNA co-branded Alaska Airlines cards.

[DISCONTINUED] Scotiabank More Rewards Visa Card

I am a little late in the game for this post, but I thought I’d draw up a R.I.P. post anyway because there could be some confusion with the Scotiabank website. Even though Scotiabank still has an active page mentioning the More Rewards Visa Card, it specify that they are no longer accepting new application. So those of you still grandfathered with the card, I would suggest keeping it for as long as possible so you can still earn More points. Below were the highlights of the card:

[DISCONTINUED] Grandfathered Chase Canada Credit Cards Being Shut Down

The news that the discontinued, but grandfathered, Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Visa and Chase Amazon.ca Rewards Visa cards will be terminated has been circulating for a few days now. I have been waiting for my letter in the mail for confirmation, but still have yet to receive it. But some of my family members already received it, so I thought I’d share what the letter looks like sooner rather than later.

[DISCONTINUED] Capital One Aspire Travel World Elite MasterCard

The last time we had a brutal year on credit card discontinuations was in 2014. I guess at some point, we were due for another one this year. It saddens me today to write about the Capital One Aspire Travel World Elite MasterCard has been discontinued, especially since I am a cardholder myself.

Accordingly to my contacts at Capital One, they provided me with the following:

As a result of changing market conditions, we will no longer be offering the Aspire Travel World Elite MasterCard to new customers. The evolving interchange environment has made this product unsustainable. There is no impact to existing customers at this time.

[DISCONTINUED] Chase Marriott – Discontinuation Confirmed

I wrote a post earlier today about the Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Visa possibly discontinued. According to my contacts at Marriott International Canada, effective September 5th, 2017, no new customer applications are being accepted into the credit card program, but existing card members will continue to be serviced. Note that this only applies to applications in Canada and does not impact the US program.

[DISCONTINUED] Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Visa Discontinued?

I was hoping that this is just a temporary glitch, but all the Chase Marriott Rewards Premier Visa links are broken.

I called Chase Canada customer service to confirm what was going on and they said that they are “no longer offering the Chase Marriott credit card for the moment”. When I asked what she meant by “for the moment”, she said it may or may not come back, but I would need to ask Marriott Rewards to find out.
