It has been a dispute for months, Walmart getting ready to stop accepting Visa credit cards at their stores in Canada. They already stopped in city of Thunder Bay and the entire province of Manitoba.

This is the first list of 2017. Hope to start the year with a bang. However, 2016 was a very strong year for credit card sign up bonuses, so I am expecting a pull back this year.
For now, here’s the list to start the year, many of which are a carry-over from last year.
Today, we start with the comparison between the more popular co-branded Aeroplan cards: American Express AeroplanPlus Gold, CIBC Aerogold Visa Infinite Card and TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card. Including business versions, there are over 10 different types of co-branded Aeroplan cards. So I will focus on comparing similar level cards and then you can cross reference them in the future.
I was re-reading a post that I wrote exactly 7 months ago entitled: 12 Aeroplan Myths and My Commentary. When I look back now, I felt like I was being too tough on Aeroplan. So it got me thinking about how my readers thoughts of my commentaries.
Predictions has yet to be a yearly tradition for me, but I may start.
Recap of 2016
Last year, I did not fair too well. All things considered, I think I was essentially 0.5/3. Here’s a quick recap of last year:
A new year, also means new wishes! Let’s continue with our annual tradition of listing our wish list for 2017. Anything that did poorly last year is going to make the list again this year. Yes, I am persistent like that! To be fair, in most cases, I do feel that I am hoping for win/
Another year has gone by. So once again, our annual tradition of recapping what I was hoping to see at the beginning of the year. We already did a mid-year report on Canada Day, so this is just closing the loop.
I recently wrote my thoughts about Mileage Runs. Today, I will provide my thoughts on “mattress runs.” A mattress run is staying at a hotel for the main purpose of collecting hotel points, nights or stays to qualify for elite status.
IHG Rewards Club just released it hotel reward redemption changes. About 650 hotels are changing categories. What this means is that the number of points required for a free hotel night is going to change, effective January 15, 2017.
I recently tried to redeem my Aeroplan miles for a United Airlines flight; however, there was no availability. But when I logged into MileagePlus, I saw the award flight available. Unfortunately, that means that the reward seat has not been released to Aeroplan yet. As we get closer to the date, if that award availability is not booked, then it will probably be send to Star Alliance partners, including Aeroplan.
