I have been following this story, but held off posting about it until we saw how many Canadians were actually affected by the worldwide Uber data breach. This year has not been a great year for cyperattacks (e.g. Equifax, IHG, Air Miles).
As promised, we are excited to continue to promote other blogs and websites through our interview series. Feel free to reach out to us if you would also like to share your story with our readers. For today, we are interviewing Stephen Akins, founder of QR Loyalty Cards, who is going to share with us his journey on how his website started! Keep up the great work Stephen, we look forward to seeing your business expand further!
Another month, another top list. Note that this list only mentions the higher than normal sign up bonuses. You can also check out the top credit cards by category on the drop down menu on our main.
We also have two other types of monthly lists going on:

American Airlines (AA) announced back in November that they are expanding its service in Canada, including more frequency of its existing routes (see “List of Destinations Departing from Canadian Airports” section). So I thought that this post was due for an update. AA is a member of Oneworld alliance and has a rewards program called AAdvantage. Unfortunately, their rewards program took a hit, as their redemption schedule has become more expensive. However, they are the Oneworld airline with the biggest presence in Canada.
A few significant changes occurred in the credit card scene since the last update, so it is time for me to update the list.
Usually, I write more of a summary on what is happening with the company. However, this time around, I will write more about what I would like to see from each company.
Please share your thoughts on what improvements you would like to see to the credit card market in the comment section below!
This is going to be a quick post, since December is in less than 2 days, I thought I’d get this notice out there as quickly as possible.
Yes, you read the title correctly, there are over 15,000 American Airlines flights in December that are without pilots assigned because of scheduling glitch. Basically, American Airlines allowed too many pilots to take vacation at the same time. My understanding is that the system approved too many vacations clustered around Christmas time and did not account for the lack of available pilots.
I may not update this list very frequently, but every now and then, there are some significant changes to the industry. Not to mix up with U.S. based credit cards, below is a list of Canadian credit cards that allow you to make purchases in U.S. currency (which essentially avoids foreign transaction fees), but you would need to pay off the balance with USD.
The first thought would be that it makes not sense to get this credit card if you do not have any US currency savings or USD income. I would recommend this credit card Canadians who have a USD income, but unable to apply for US based credit cards (which is the preferred method).
We are back again with our monthly update on the first year fee waived credit cards list. Note that we also have two other types of monthly lists going on:

Even though the Shoppers Optimum program is coming to an end, we still have until February 1, 2018 for business as usual. This weekend, Shoppers Optimum is once again offering its bonus redemption. This is the promotion I usually wait for before redeeming my points, so that I can get even more value from them. The promotion is as follows:
Spend 50,000 points and get $85 off + $20 worth of points back (or 16,000 points)
Spend 95,000 points and get $170 off + $40 worth of points back (or 30,000 points)
