The AIR MILES Travel Hub is a hotel booking engine powered by PointsHound, which has an inventory of over 150,000 hotels and all-inclusive resorts around the world.
When booking your hotel stay through Travel Hub, you can earn bonus Air Mile reward miles. There is a current promotion where you can:
Earn 100 bonus miles after spending $100 or $299
Earn 200 bonus mile after spending $300 or more
The booking needs to be made by September 30, 2017 and the stay must occur before December 31, 2017.
Air Canada has sent out a request for proposal to offer a co-branded credit card (new reports from CBC and Financial Post). Since announcing that they will be discontinuing their partnership with Aeroplan, steps will be taken by both companies to move on from each other.
Most of the news has surrounded around Aeroplan, regarding who they will team up with next, what to do with Aeroplan miles, etc. Air Canada has remained relatively quiet until now. We know that they plan on launching their own loyalty program and they will need to team up with at least one credit card company to offer a co-branded credit card to make their program more valuable.
Rocketmiles is a hotel booking engine which looks for the best rates for over 400,000 hotel chains around the world (see our review post: Rocketmiles). Rocketmiles offers both flexible refundable rooms and nonrefundable rooms at a lower rate. They have teamed up with Aeroplan to offer an opportunity to earn bonus miles. There are different promotions for new and existing members.
There is a slight update on the high speed slight shot between Montreal and Toronto. The last time I learned about this, the plan was Toronto to Montreal in 30 minutes. In the latest plans, Ottawa has been added for a 39 minute trip from Montreal to Toronto, via Ottawa, if it were to go ahead.

It has been 18 months since the last time we saw an American Express Membership Rewards transfer bonus to British Airways’ Executive Club. Personally, I thought that we would never see a transfer bonus like this again from American Express, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a 25% transfer bonus.
Transfer bonuses are my favourite way to boost my loyalty accounts.
Airline alliances frequently change their members. This list was due for an update from last time. Most significantly, I added two regional airline alliances: U-Fly Alliance and Value Alliance.
Personal Airline Alliance Portfolio
As usual, a quick recap of my personal portfolio. Basically, I have at least one core frequent flyer program per airline alliance that I can bank all my miles to on paid flights. Most of my personal trips have been on reward flights, which is why you may not see me utilizing many different programs.
It has been 4 months since the last time I updated this list, so it is probably due for an update (especially since we are adding a new company to the list!) as we approach the last third of the year. Last year was a strong year for credit cards, so I anticipated a slow year in 2017.
I always have fun ranking the credit card companies out there. It helps me get an idea on which companies are making progress and which ones are regressing.
