Matt has been an avid points collector since 1992 (an elementary school student), when his dad signed up for the new (at the time) Air Miles program. Since then, Matt took a keen interest in learning how the miles and points world works. He quickly found out that there is a lot of value in leveraging miles and points to fund his passion for travelling.

Current Aeroplan Bonus Miles for Hotel Stays

For those who are looking to book a hotel that you do not plan to stay with very often, because you are more focused on finding the best price to suit your needs. As a result, you may not feel that it is worth the hassle to sign up for the hotel loyalty program. An alternative to this problem is to set your hotel program to earn Aeroplan miles instead of hotel points. This way, you can pool your points into Aeroplan, so that you can save for a reward flight quicker.

Whether the Costco Executive Membership is Worth it

First of all, the Gold Star Membership costs $55, but without any rewards. The Executive Membership costs $110 to sign up. So we are essentially talking about a $55 price difference. Gold members do not receive any sort of rewards; conversely, Executive Members get 2% cash back on all purchases (up to $750 cash back or $37,500 in annual spending).

IHG PointsBreak (October 26, 2015 – January 31, 2016)

IHG Rewards has released another set PointsBreak offers that is valid from October 26, 2015 to January 31, 2016. This has always been my favourite hotel promotion, which reduces the number of points required for a reward night down to 5,000 points. IHG hotel categories range from 10,000 points to 50,000 points per night. That is what makes the Pointsbreak promotion so valuable. You can potentially find hotel rooms normally costing 30,000 or 40,000 points per night for only 5,000 points during the promotional period.

Rundown on American Airlines for Canadians

American Airlines and the now former U.S. Airways took another huge step into its full integration. When two airlines of this magnitude, it takes time for every aspect of the merger to go through. This past weekend, US Airways flights have ceased to exist. All the flights that were listed as US Airways or US Airways Express are now listed as American Airlines or American Eagle respectively.

Often times, I am asked which airline frequent flyer program to accrue. My answer has always been the same, it depends on which region of the country that you live. Depending on which part of the country you live in, there are different airline hubs and concentrations.

Saturday Updates and Promotions (RBC-WestJet and Scotiabank-Chase Canada)

I plan to start a new Saturday series every few weeks, so long as there is enough relevant updates and promotions to talk about. This series is going to provide news updates and promotions grouped together. I chose Saturday mornings because I think that it is a great day to catch on what was missed during the week.
