When I first wrote about Pioneer Bonus Bucks gas loyalty program, I did not live anywhere near any of the stations. But now I do and now I have a membership. So I thought this would be a good time to update this post. As you probably already know, most of my post ideas come from personal research. Cineplex’s Scene Rewards program is going through some changes effective April 17, 2019. In summary, for the most part, you will be earning points faster, but need more points for some reward redemptions. I will discuss the changes and offer some strategies.

Air Miles’ Shop The Block promotion is back!

Air Miles collectors can earn up to 2,000 bonus miles. Below is a breakdown of the promotion:

Shop at participating partners between November 15, 2018 to December 27, 2018.
Earn 300 bonus miles when you use 3 different partner offers
Earn 1,000 bonus miles when you use 5 different partner offers
Earn 2,000 bonus miles when you use 7 different partner offers

Another year, another annual (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017) traditional of providing a rundown of the Scene rewards program on this day. This year might have been the year that I went to watch the most movies ever. I accrued a fair number of Scene points that needed to be used!

Thoughts on Air Miles, New Partners for Shopping Portal

I think that it is safe to say that most of the dust has settled with all the negative publicity with Air Miles. 

Negativity with Air Miles
Air Miles was introducing a hard expiry policy of 5 years after miles were deposited, that was going to be effective on December 31, 2016. What that means is that once your miles are deposited into your account, they will expiry within 5 years regardless of expiry. There was going to be a first-in-first-out rule, whereby the miles you redeem will be the ones that were deposited first.

Cineplex Wants to Deliver Snacks to your Home

Cineplex recently entered into a partnership with Uber Eats. Basically, Cineplex is launching an initiative where you can rent a movie at home and have your drinks and snacks delivered to your home instead of going to the theatre. You will have to download the Uber Eats App to find out if they deliver to your area. For now, only some parts of Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec are being serviced. But the plan is to expand.
