Author: Matt

Matt has been an avid points collector since 1992 (an elementary school student), when his dad signed up for the new (at the time) Air Miles program. Since then, Matt took a keen interest in learning how the miles and points world works. He quickly found out that there is a lot of value in leveraging miles and points to fund his passion for travelling.

High Frequency VIA Rail Project (Québec City to Toronto Corridor)

This summer, VIA Rail announced a proposal to increase high frequency rail in the Québec City to Toronto Corridor. This is going to be a joint project between Canada Infrastructure Bank and VIA Rail Canada.

In 2018, approximately 72% (or 66% of revenue) of VIA Rail Canada traffic runs through the Quebec City to Toronto Corridor, so it does make sense to invest in this region.

Top Cash Back Credit Card Offers for November 2019

Many offers expired at the end of October, so November is mostly a fresh month with many new offers that were either extended or changed up. You will even notice some offers that were supposed to end in November that got preemptively extended.

Comparison of the AMEX Air Miles Reserve, Platinum and BMO Air Miles World Elite Cards

Quite a few changes were made to the American Express Air Miles Reserve Card and BMO Air Miles World Elite MasterCard since I wrote the comparison post, so I thought I’d give a proper update to both cards at the same time. But this time, I added the American Express Platinum Credit Card into the mix as improvements to the card made it a more viable option.

RBC 50% Transfer Bonus to British Airways

Royal Bank is offering a generous 50% transfer bonus to British Airways Executive Club between November 1, 2019 to December 15, 2019.

There is a 10,000 RBC Rewards points minimum requirement at a 1 to 1 transfer ratio. But it is increments of 1 point thereafter. So 10,000 points will get you 15,000 Avios (instead of 10,000).

Quite a few promotions ended at the end of October, but most promotions either got extended or repurposed.

Happy Halloween! Rundown of the Scene Program 2019

Happy Halloween Everyone!

We continue our annual (2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018) tradition of providing a rundown of the Scene rewards program on this day. We did write a post back in March 2019 to discuss what to do ahead of the major changes that kicked in on April 17, 2019.

Today’s post will recap the program for what it is currently.

Top No Annual Fee Canadian Credit Cards

You may have noticed by now that we added a new page to our menu bar due to popular demand. Under Top Credit Cards, you will find Top No Annual Fee cards. You will probably notice that most of the listed cards are sprinkled between all the other categories. But now we have all of them in one page. Out of all the lists that we have, this might be the longest one.

Best Current First Year Fee Waived Cards for October 2019

Quite a few offers are ending at month end, so if you are still thinking about it, now is your last chance to jump on the current offers. I am excited to see what is going to be offered in November. I expect some offers to be extended, but others to surface. If not, this list could be real short next month.

Ongoing Offers

The reason I left this list (ongoing offers) up is that there are so few (just 2 really) permanent first year fee waived offers. So they are worthy of being highlighted. Meridian Bank is the only company willing to do this at the moment. Granted, the terms and conditions do say that the offers are limited time, but with no specific end date.
