Loblaw Offering $25 Gift Card for Price Fixing

Loblaw pretty much admitted to price-fixing today. The Canadian Competition Bureau was alerted of this matter. The price fixing affected the George Weston’s bakery division.

However, the Competition Bureau executed warrants to search the offices of certain grocers to gather evidence, but said that there had been no conclusion of wrongdoing and no charges had been laid.

Shoppers Optimum Bonus Redemption Event

Even though the Shoppers Optimum program is coming to an end, we still have until February 1, 2018 for business as usual. This weekend, Shoppers Optimum is once again offering its bonus redemption. This is the promotion I usually wait for before redeeming my points, so that I can get even more value from them. The promotion is as follows:

Spend 50,000 points and get $85 off + $20 worth of points back (or 16,000 points)
Spend 95,000 points and get $170 off + $40 worth of points back (or 30,000 points)

Pointshogger on CBC Talking about new PC Subscription Program

Loblaws is launching a fee-based subscription program for either $9.99 a month or $99 a year, which is suppose to give you more perks with the PC Plus program. I was asked to speak about this matter on CBC’s On the Money, which is now available online to watch.

I will also write down what was discussed and add a few nuggets that I did not have time to speak about.

30% Transfer Bonus from RBC Rewards to British Airways Executive Club

Not quite the 50% that I was hoping for, but still glad to see some transfer bonus still alive. RBC Rewards is currently offering a 30% transfer bonus to British Airways Executive Club.

This offer, which runs between November 15, 2017 to December 31, 2017, is only valid to RBC Avion cardholders, not just any RBC Rewards credit card. Valid credit cards are as follow

Updated Review of Carrot Rewards

It has been a few months since I started using Carrot Rewards, as there seems to be a demand for me to update my experience. I am not going to repeat what I already shared in my last post, but I will provide an update since.

Reward Option

Initially, I started off with collecting Aeroplan miles, but later decide to switch to Scene points. I thought it would be more useful to collect points for date night with my wife. I have my wife earning Aeroplan instead, to stay diversified.

Receive 3 cents off Petro-Canada with RBC

Just as the last Petro-Canada and RBC promotion expires, a new one begins. Last time, there was a 2 cents off promotion.

What is the promotion?

Now, they upped the promotion to 3 cents off per litre and earn 20% more Petro-Points on qualifying purchases made at Petro-Canada. What makes this more significant, is that it is on top of any rewards that you would normally earn with your RBC credit or debit card (granted there are no rewards with debit cards, but you can get something!). To triple dip, you can still present your Petro-Canada loyalty card to earn your regular points.
